About

I am Stevie VanBronkhorst, an illustrator, graphic designer, and print production designer from Seattle. Bit by the theatre bug in childhood, I’ve worked with small theatres to produce their posters since 2007.

As a professional print production designer, marketing graphic designer, and illustrator, it is my pleasure and privilege to offer unique and effective art and design to theatres of all sizes.

I live in Seattle with my family and one pet. I like to sew as a hobby.

FAQ

Which theatres have you worked with?
In my daytime capacity as a graphic and production designer I have produced and worked on programs for most of the large and mid-size theatres in the Seattle area: ACT Theatre, Seattle Rep, Seattle Children’s Theatre, Seattle Shakes, Book-It, Village Theatre, and the Paramount Theatre, as well as arts groups such as Seattle Opera, the Seattle Symphony, the Pacific Northwest Ballet, Tacoma Arts Live, Seattle Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Meany Center for the Performing Arts, and the Seattle International Film Festival. I have also worked with groups in San Francisco such as American Conservatory Theatre, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony, Berkeley Rep, Cal Shakes, and Stanford Lively Arts.

As a freelancer, I have designed and illustrated posters for Burien Actors Theatre since 2007 and Renton Civic Theatre since 2017, and have made posters and graphics for Hello Earth Productions (producers of Star Trek episodes performed in city parks), Latino Theatre Projects, Turbo Turkey Improv, and Copious Love Productions.

Do you make websites?
No, I am bad at making websites. If you have a budget in mind, perhaps I can refer you to a friend.

Do you make playbills (brochures, signage, print ads, web graphics, etc etc)?
Yes, designing playbills/programs is my day job, and all manner of other collateral, and I offer these services to small theatres as well.

Will you make our posters on a volunteer basis?
I’m sorry, my pro-bono docket is full up and I need to maintain family hours. I offer a sliding scale fee structure based on the overall budget of your organization. We may be able to find an approach that works for your budget, so please get in touch.

Why are all your posters illustrated? Will you use photos or type?
I often use illustration as that is what I am good at, like a director who is also a lighting designer may use a lot of cool lighting. I am not much a photographer myself and find it difficult to organize a photoshoots remotely. I am happy to incorporate provided or stock photo art into a design as needed, as it is what I do all day at my day job. I love to use custom lettering if that is the approach we decide is best. My poster designs incorporating photos are not presented here for license because I do not have unlimited rights to re-license those photographs.

Why did you name your website Proscenium Poster Art?
Because it seemed relevant, fairly memorable, and easy enough to spell.
